The Millennials Series: Three Tips For Getting Noticed On LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the professional’s “best friend” for networking online and building connections. It enables professionals to showcase their career, and education, history with their network. With so many professionals using LinkedIn, it is important to have an “All-Star” profile and ensure you stand out from the crowd.
So what are my Top Three Tips for how to stand out and get noticed on LinkedIn?
  1. Write, Share Content and Interact. Write articles and posts that are relevant to your industry. Showcase what you are passionate about. Make sure that you share content which will add value to your network… you don’t want to clog up their feed with articles about the Kardashians! You can interact with others in your network by sharing, or liking and commenting on their posts.  Screen Shot 2018-09-28 at 11.05.52 am.png
  2. Be Authentic. Make sure your profile reflects who you are and what you are passionate about. Share photos on your employment history and summary. Don’t use complicated language to make yourself sound more superior. This will ensure you turn people off from perusing your profile.
  3. Get Recommendations. The hardest part of LinkedIn? Getting recommendations! To get recommendations, ask your colleagues, industry peers, and clients for recommendations. Recommendations from these people will help you to build credibility. My top tip for getting these recommendations? Write a recommendation for the person you want a recommendation from. It will be a nice surprise for them when it lands in their LinkedIn inbox and builds rapport with them.
