The Travel Diaries: The Europe Diaries Part 3 – UltraMusic Festival Europe with Busabout

Ultramusic Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in the world! I managed to find a tour through Busabout which included Ultra Europe, so of course, I wasn’t going to miss out on experiencing this festival while I was on that side of the world. Now the one thing I didn’t realise until I got there was … this festival goes ALL night! Yes, you read that correctly, it is an overnight festival, starting at 7pm and finishing at 5am.

I can’t recommend attending a festival like this highly enough, and especially through Busabout. The group of people that were on the Busabout tour with me were so much fun to spend time with and honestly helped make the festival and the overall experience what it was.

It was an incredible 3 nights, hearing some of the worlds biggest DJ’s, and just experiencing the vibe was intense. One thing I absolutely loved was that each DJ on the main stage did a tribute to Avicii.

My top acts from the festival were:

  • Marshmello
  • The Chainsmokers
  • DJ Snake
  • Armin Van Buuren

One last thing to remember, the rules for attending music festivals, particularly Ultra, can differ to festivals back home. My top tips:

  • Make sure your bag is small. You cannot take in a shoulder bag that is bigger than your hand. I recommend investing in a cheap bumbag/fanny pack (there are plenty at the markets in Split which you can pick up for less than $20AUD) or a clear backpack.
  • Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water and ensure you keep hydrated. The temperature is still quite warm overnight so you can still dehydrate easily.
  • Eat. Make sure you eat a solid meal before you go, the food at the festival is expensive and drinking on an empty stomach is not a good idea.
  • Wear comfy shoes. Wear shoes that won’t give you blisters, and are preferably enclosed as the toilets and festival grounds get pretty dirty.
